Found this at the thrift store. $9.99 with no tax whoohoo! (tax free glee, not for price).
Didn't expect much, being that it's so teeny.

BUT NOTHING SMALL ABOUT THE SOUND!
Boy was I suprised. Packs quite a punch AND good sound quality to boot.
HOW in the world did they fit all that in there? 4 speakers, graphic qualizer, AMSS, even line in function too!
I'm officially impressed.

How mini is it?

MB84, if you ever wondered how they sound, all I can say is that size for size, it may be the best sounding/feature rich box for it's miniscule cubic inches. I would have no reservations of taking this baby with me for some portable sound without the hassles of lugging a huge monster, risking damage. I was so happy when I heard the nice sound I didn't even wait to remove the price stickers before photographing it!

Everyone should have one in their collection.

Ira, no tax and no shipping is always a treat. That means 10 bucks, no more, no less.... the cost of a super sized extra value meal. And the sound -- well, I kid you not, I wasn't expecting much but I'm very pleasantly suprised. Takes 6 C cells. No AC power on this one, just a DC input jack to connect a wall wart if you need A/C capability. But it's just as well... the size is so small and compact that a built in transformer would add to size and weight.

If you don't already have this, I think you can't go wrong with this one. The model number is: M S560.

Ok, here is a picture of it cleaned up. I disassembled it, cleaned the heads, cleaned the dust, and repaired a loose connection inside leading to intermittent battery operation. All fixed now, all cleaned up and shiny. This is going to join me on my computer desk for awhile as it's small enough.

IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY IRA, You will notice that familiar M9998 in the background and the giant kaboom is acting like a pedestal for this nice mini. See, told you I would store it like a column. The kaboom now has a new function -- mini stand.

Why do you need the dims, Ira? Again, look at the kaboom stand for a perspective! So, just stand your kaboom on end and picture this little beauty perched on top.

Ok Ok, so demanding, sheeesh! It's 19 x 4.5 x 4.5.

Oh yeah, those cubed speakers are detachable, if desired. In that case, you are looking at 9" x 4.5" x 4.5" for the heart, and each small detachable speaker is 4.5" square -- like a big rubiks cube.

thanks norm -- i am normally not in any need for any details about anything-- :dunce:

but --needed your dims as a vague attempt to pre-judge how yours might sound
vs my fav -- which is the panny c-50 == 17 x 5 x 6 (deep)-
i know that exact speaker sizes are not always the telling factor -
but --often a helpful guide :-)

btw- do you have a panny c50 to compare ??
-------------------------------

as for your kaboom TABLE !!! :w00t:
well - if you put the bass knob up to #6
and stick most any new eminem CD in there

you will jack-hammer your floor

LMAO: Damn, You owe me a new keyboard, Ira.

No, I don't have the panny c50. In fact, would never even have bought anything this small except that it was cheap, no tax, no shipping and I skipped my lunch money to get it, figured worth the risk, right?

Well, after listening to it, all I can say it I wouldn't hesitate to pay much much more, and shipping too -- if I only knew. Like I said, them teeny speakers (4 of them), you're not going to replace your M90 or kaboom. But I think it sounds darn good and better than a lot of the smaller classics 3 times bigger. Just cause it's small, however, doesn't mean it's light. It's definitely quality built and NOT an empty creaker. It feels like a mini gold brick!

No one else have one of these guys to chime in on the sound? Ira really really wants to know....
