a few moments ago --
one of my kids was playing some beautiful cool stuff on his guitar --
i had never heard it before --and it was great --i asked him what it was ?
he said --he made it up !!! :thumbsup: :-O :cool:

so i asked if i could record it -
he is shy about these matters --and told me to fkoff :lol: :-)

the only boomer that i had handy with both a blank tape
and batteries --was my sony 580 that i got from norm :super:

so i quietly hit the play/record keys --
the 580 was behind a desk and a table --and i expected a very dim//poor
recording --

instead it was PERFECT !!!!!!!! :thumbsup: :yes: :yes: :yes:

I have to say, something that is very over looked with many of these radio's is their LIVE recording capabilities!

Cool, I'll keep an eye on this thread for when you post it.

I recently did some live recording of a friend of mine playing the piano with my 777z. I was really impressed on how clean it turned out. Keeping in mind I used a Chrome Tape and we were in a room with a hardwood floors and high ceilings....

some not all boomboxes have really good microphones built into them. that little sony most likely has a very decent pair of condenser mics built into it. not to mention there is probably some kind of limiting and also the natural compression that goes alot with using tape to begin with.
i am not surprised that sony is a pretty decent recorder. i have a sony recorder from around that era that comes in a self contained case with mics and stuff.
we used it to record a track on the last droom album and it sounded pretty good.
