Has anyone repaired these and is it easy to open them up and repair without breaking.
I have a small stereo and the power switch is a microswitch which does not work unless pushed slighty further in. Obviously sitting and holding the power button in to operate is not great.
I have access to the switch now and can desolder it from the board but before delving into it I wondered if its a none starter.
I've tried switrch cleaner and giving it a thorough working out to no avail.

Hey docs! I've taken one apart, it's not that hard to do... carefull yes, but it's not brain surgery!
You see that little tiny metal part (rod) that moves from one side to another when the button is pressed?
Those sometimes get bent or outtashape. It's a matter of when you take it apart, (get some small tweezers) try and straighten it out a little and put it back in and try to press it with the radio plugged in. Also spray the hell outtaof it when unassembled!      GOOD LUCK BRO!!!!

Sounds like the internal leafs are all eaten up and needs to be moved further down to where there is still some material left.

In a pinch, you might could reverse the leads (move the wire furthest down the switch to the position closest to the button). Make sure the wire bridges both poles for maximum current carrying capacity. This might work but the switch position would be reversed. In other words, in-off, out-on.
