Well Mono...there's one you can rest assured who DOES know. ;-) I couldn't help but listen to the entire track. And on wax it's truly something special.

M-other F-ather S-ister B-rother was more than thirty studio musicians that made up the T-he S-ound O-f P-hilidelphia. You could hear their sound backing the Stylisitics, O'Jays, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Billy Paul, and Wilson Pickett along with many other artists. With (Kenny) Gamble & (Leon) Huff handling arrangements and (Thom) Bell producing...you had nothing but the formula for success.

As a matter of fact the very song that made up the Soul Train Theme we're all so familiar with moreso than any other was their biggest hit and it was called literally MFSB - TSOP. Enjoy!!!

Featuring The Three Degrees! ;-) That was the jam!

Yeah, todays music is cool but the one main thing I miss is orchestration. To add some strings, horns and whatnot to a song meant going the extra mile. Not a Philly track, but you ever hear the version of Marvin Gaye's "After The Dance" without the string section? Still a classic but it's a whole different feel.

Anyway, most of the producers who came out in the past 20 years or so can't hold a candle to those from the 70's/early 80's. Those cats from Philadelphia International Records had it locked down for awhile.

Gamble & Huff also hooked up with The Jacksons for this classic...

I still remember listening to that song via radio on my fathers big-ass wooden cabinet style stereo (w/ turntable and whatnot hidden under the wooden top) back in 1977! :afro: I was 5 or 6 years old... Man, I miss those days! :-/
