Melted brakes

I think this is probably universal part and common issue. I'm not sure what is the proper name and function of those, but I think they serve only to stop the reel from spinning once the motor has stopped turning.

Anyway, they have melted away and I'd like to replace them with something suitable.

Here is the pic from service manual, where you can see them marked, and in original shape and size.

Any suggestions? Would a slice of rubber or PVC cable insulation be sufficient?

Thanks in advance!

You might want to try thin rubber hose ;-)

Thats what I'm thinkin. Kinda like the gas RC car tubing we use for the bad sharp cassette decks only a smaller I.D...

Try your local hobbie shop!

That's a way to get rich - buy rubber hose, slice it at 3mm pieces, and sell them as reel brakes padding! :w00t:
Watch out Rothschilds, here I come
