Changing belts and cleaning the cassette mechanism isn't too difficult. However, it is time consuming. With a little patience and notekeeping, it is a job that you can actually do.

Here are detailed instructions:

http://www.mediafire.com/?7zmrmzm9jrl

The GF-777 will require five new belts:

SBM 6.0 x 2 (cassette drive belt)
SBS 7.4 (tape counter belt)
FBM 11.5 x 2 (main flywheel belt)

I'd recommend my repairer, but he's been in inundated with work and I've got boxes sitting there for going on 16months, so that's not an option.

I know rich sony_apm_fan has a local repairer he uses in melbourne, I'd PM him.

Good luck

Haha. I often refer to his work shed as the second wing of my collection.. there are at least 6 or 7 blasters around there, and all of em grails that I've barely had the pleasure of enjoying at all yet.

If I were you Alfie, I'd be chatting the folks at WES and seeing if you can put an ad up.
If ANYONE in .au knows who can do the type of repairs we need it'll be them as they all need to
get their supplies from somewhere. Even my repairer uses WES.

Thats kind of how I found my repairer, I went into an old TV repair shop asking if they knew anyone who still
repaired vintage audio products and they gave me the magic number!
