I was wondering where I can find the belt size for Marantz PMS7000. I also like to know the motor speed adjustment on it.
Any additional service tips would be of great help!

Hi Royce, i'm about to test mine to see how it functions. My only advice on belts is to purchase a ton of assorted sizes to give you best chance because some unit belt sizes simply aren't available.
I'll ket you know if I need to replace mine.

You're better off buying a single high-quality belt instead of those awful multipacks, unless there's a reason you can't wrap a string around the belt path to get the length.

Thank you all! I was lucky today! and fixed the deck, the slow speed speed of tape play, replaced belts. Lucky me! I had belts in stock.... I still don't know how I got the correct ones.
Then my biggest headache was the on and off FM stereo LED. I sprayed the trimmers, moved and brought back to original position. I took pics and did it so perfect to bring it back to the original position after Deoxit Fader Lube5 application.

Cleaned the record bar.... with Deoxit. I thought I did it all... but still no right VU meter function and no FM stereo LED.

It was lighting up before I opened it all. I blamed myself of doing something wrong when I was replacing the panel bulbs.
They all I replaced with 14V, 0.1A ones. It all came out fine!

Later I made a desperate try to clean all switches and realized I was cleaning the FM mute switch well and not the stereo/mono switch ...
When I cleaned the stereo/mono switch LED came to life!
It made my day!

Only problem so far is the right VU meter is either stuck... or not working.
I can live with that but all other functions are working.

A Saturday well spend! I am so happy.

Will post pics tomorrow!

Oh my!..
Again the stereo LED indicator is malfunctioning....it is off and on.
No LED glow on stereo channels. Right VU meter not working and also the tuning indicator. Don't know what is going on.

Stereo light might be due to a dirty VR2 pot, or maybe it simply needs to be rotated to a "better" position.
The bad VU meter might be due to a dirty record bar? Or the needle inside needs cleaning with alcohol? Or a connector or solder joint is bad?

Try cleaning up the function switch really good to Royce!!! Good luck
Hi Bill,
I tried cleaning that function switch many times. It is remotely located on the board far from front function switch on the panel through a flat steel cable in a plastic sheath. I will try again. Thanks!

Thanks Reli! There are two record bars for this Marantz and will clean it again. I and rotated the trimmer slightly to either side and reset it to the original position. This is what I did to two trimmers sitting next to each other. I need to identify the correct VR2 pot for the stereo LRD and try to adjust it tuning to a powerful FM stereo station. Thanks!

This is from the service manual. R166 is the one you need for getting the stereo light back on. I rarely touch the other one, it's basically just left/right balance

Thanks so much Reli! I burned my eyes a lot in one schematics pic and was unable to find the R168. Yes, I will leave the 168 alone and try to adjust with R166.

Today I tried adjusting the R166 trimmer setting at a strong station on FM and the LED never light up. I repeated the process tuning at other stations and went all the way adjusting that 10K trimmer R166 without no success. Now my concerns is that if the LED has gone bad for some reason. It was working well initially on many FM stations before, then stopped working and then again worked for a while before it stopped.

I was wondering how I can check if the LED has gone bad? I don't know the operating voltage and current for it. Is there a way to check on the LED leads.

If I pull gently on one of the leads on the non working right VU meter, the meter comes alive but won't work when I leave it. The meter tip deflects like a mm most of the time at the mid point area on the scale where it is partially stuck. Seems like there is some obstruction for the free movement. I need to take the front face Al plate for removing the VU meters and play on the screw head of the VU meter suspension. For removing the front Al plate I might have to disconnect the microphone leads, or the glued microphones on the Al face.

Cleaned the two record bars so well! So also the function switch and all switches.

Royce the LED usually never goes out. I would change the 10k Adjustable/variable resistor first. You can try cleaning but doubt that will work.

Vintage led bulbs typically can only handle about 1.6 to 1.7v. If you hit 1.8, you are dwelling into dangerous territory. When they go, they’ll go fast. If you are gonna test it, I suggest doing so through a resistor. Polarity can be determined by the lead length or flat edge of bulb on new ones but once installed, the leads would be clipped so just know that the flat edge of the bulb will correspond to the negative lead.
