Just want to give all you guys a shout out that have a passion for the hobby and love these old school boomboxes. High end audio and mechanical audio (analog as opposed to digital) has always been a big deal to me. There's nothing better than audio being reproduced in motion such as a record spinning on a turntable or a tape reel spinning. There's a certain nostalgia to the whole thing that can't be reproduced with an MP3 player or cellphone. Boomboxes themselves are an art form and remind me of my younger years, the beach, arcades and when music was real...

Those Starions and Conquests were cool cars back in the day and I wanted one REALLY bad when I was in college but I couldn't afford the $14,000 price tag when they were new. That was a bargain by today's standards and was still less than a comparable Rx7 turbo II or 300ZX turbo and better looking in my opinion.

BTW, I'm really in need of several items for my growing collection of boomboxes:
Lasonic TRC920 back cover (badly cracked in shipment)
Tecsonic J1 EQ sliders, echo knob and battery covers, I'll be restoring this recent Ebay purchase in an effort to make Radio Raheem proud.

Both boxes have large chrome dust caps for the speakers. I always liked that look and on the J1 the speakers are recessed back in the cabinet a good bit making it even nicer looking. During the resto, I might even experiment with some LED lighting behind the grilles or something to that effect. I'm sure some of you guys have done that sort of thing. In the car world, it's called a RESTO-MOD!!
