Since there have been some crazy ebay auctions recently busted Lasonics for $2000 Sanyo 920s $1000 and a Sanyo M7950 for almost €500! It's good to still be able to score a high quality local box for pennies.
Minty Sony FH-215R fully working with unused remote 5 miles away. Not a true boombox as it doesn't appear to take batteries and not a very street look. However has a 7 band equalizer with stunning spectrum analizer. Digital preset tuner. Logic auto reverse tape deck, 3 way speaker with the tweeter set at a 20 degree angle outwards.
I remember Sony square speakers being a little 'boomy' back in the day but this one is nice and balanced.

Always wanted one of these  Those red rings around the tweeters are pimp

But, 380 watts?

Sure, PMPO, which is a meaningless figure. Bet it only puts out 30-40 wpc RMS.

30-40 RMS will still embarrass most grails.

They're a good buy because most of them have spent their lives indoors and not a kid or teenager box so the owner demographic is good. From what I understand the FH-909 is the top of the pile with a snazzy angled tape deck.

Even a true 20 watts RMS per channel will blow away most boxes - power hungry old tech amps don't mix well with D cells!!

That Sony looks awesome! AC only certainly frees up the designers to introduce some serious grunt into the equation. I bet you can really feel (hear) the extra headroom when you crank the bass with that beast.

Congrats on a great find and with remote too!

James.... :-)

jvc did make a challenger to these fh's , not sure how it stacks up against the higher end fh's but the pc x1000 obliterates my fh 7 for sound quality .

now i'm sure that's not the case with the fh 215 , that one can prolly go toe to toe or better because it has way better speakers than the fh 7.

Looks to be one bad-a$$ radio - boombox or not.
Digital EQ w/ Spectral Analyzer?...Love it.
Do you know what year it was made?

1987 I believe
Would love to know the price back then. Big ticket item I suspect.

Phwooargh. Sweet thing, am I right in thinking that these have rubber suspension so no foam rot to deal with as the older, squarer APM woofers invariably would be showing by now?
What's not to love about it though but? I so would!
