I have only had this box one week and I have taken it into a bar (blew peoples minds), I took it to band rehearsal where we have a huge warehouse and last night I took it to my friends house.

I've had it on my dresser all week as well and have been listening to it, with tapes, the radio and an mp3 player plugged in to it.

There are allot of settings on this box. Many more then I'm used too. For the most part, it's a mobile recording studio. I do remember doing my fair share of recording, but this is big in comparison of controls.

At the bar, I didn't even turn it on. People just gawked and said "Hell Yeah".

At my studio / warehouse I did get on the knob a little, but we were there to work, so it was just kept at a reasonable level.

I have been speaking to other members about their 777's and all agree they are bass / bottom heavy. They could use more tweeter / high / mid high.

But last night at my friends house I learned something HUGE!

First of all, we were listening to my cassette collection, no mp3 player. And we were listening to a variety of music, mostly classic rock / light Metal. Box sounded great, but found I had to keep making adjustments at lower volume levels. Adjustments to the bass level, treble, loudness on and off, mixing on and off.

But as the night wore on and the beers got flowing, the volume kept increasing and as it got louder, the sound really started to improve. The bass and treble mix came together and things leveled off. (Yes I'm very aware that we could have been just drunk :drunk: )

AND THEN....

I put in my Herbie Hancock ROCKET

With the volume at 8+ this thing started to ROAR like the Space Shuttle lifting off! I had the sub's at 3/4, I had the treble all the way up and the bass at 3/4 with the loudness on and it was begging to go LOUDER!

It was very clear to the people in the room, that this box was built to do what it was doing right then and it was F'n BITCHEN! We rocked hard to that....Then RUN DMC's Raising Hell. UN-REAL

AND THEN...

My buddy whose house I was at decided he needed to prove his manhood and turn on his home stereo. Even he agreed his home stereo was no louder and he has a Sony Tuner / Amp, 2 6 inch satellite speakers and a 12 inch sub.

It was a great night...But one thing is for sure. This radio really sounds best AT MAX VOLUME! The bass, mid's and highs all come to the right mix. It straight ROARS!

I took it into the kitchen tonight while making dinner to try to do a little bonding with my 17 year old step daughter. I was showing her how loud it was! She must have been really impressed because she left to go take a shower with out saying anything! :bang:

Since I got my boombox and started listening to music through it, I find it hard to listen to things that aren't being played through it. I also can't listen to MP3s I have on vinyl

Very awesome observations Chris!!
The 777 allows for more tuning of the sound than any other radio I've had the pleasure of experiencing thus far.

I remember someone loved having the bass on 0, treble on max and the Super Woofer volume on 100%

You can really tailor the sound to get the most out of it depending on what you're listening to, and nothing's more fun than that!

Rock On.

:eek:fftopic:

I'm not a fan of MP3's, They are, by design 10% compressed versions of the original. The way that it is achieved is they remove much of what your ear can not naturally hear. There for, the speakers don't try to reproduce the whole signal. Cassettes and vinyl are the best sounding media IMHO.

BUT mp3's do deliver (usually) a hotter more modern mix of the songs I love.

I'm almost deaf, so it really doesn't matter any more!

That is truly the post of a person who is like a pig in mud.oth

We can talk about all the techie stuff and everything but at the end of the day it's about sound and Wow factor.

I'd like to say you get over it but I had mine for nearly a year now and I can't :breakdance:

It's even better when you can share it with other folks, after all they are not personal stereos.

Hey Gluecifer,

You really do have allot of adjustments with this radio. I'm sure I will learn how to get it sounding right at low volumes. But as for right now...I like rippen' the knob!
