I'm probably the ONLY registered yahoo.jp member. I can bid, for fun. But if I win anything, I'VE GOT NO WAY TO PAY. And almost no-one ships their stuff overseas. BUT I did find one guy willing to ship me his J88. And NO intermediary. And he was willing to ship via seamail.

As for the 975, I predict, that when it's unwrapped, the battery cover is already warped! :-O

Japanese sellers usually won't/can't/don't deal with anyone outside of Japan.

I use Japan Auction Centre as an auction proxy.

They won't/don't -- yes. But can't ? :dunce:

Why not?

One guy sold me his Aiwa. And he exported it to me too.

There are cultural issues with dealing with foreigners for many Japanese, also there is a significant language barrier for some.

i think the rules should apply to all auctions. not just ebay. that's all i'm sayin.

I agree. I think there is a signficant number of members here, some probably lurkers, that also watches and buys from Yahoo Japan. Proxy or not.

The difference with eBay and Yahoo Japan is that with eBay, you can bid directly and drive up the price all the way until the last second. For the most part, if you don't live in Japan and have a Japanese bank account/credit card to pay for the box and aren't registered to Yahoo Japan, you'll have to use a proxy. And even then, you'll have to have a set top price for what you're willing to pay 'cause there's no way you're gonna be in constant minute-to-minute contact with the proxy telling him to bid more money... It all comes down to who's willing to spend more yen from the jump. Besides, you're more likely to lose to an actual Japanese buyer than any forum member. ;-)

If there's a proxy service that lets you do your own bidding like eBay, that's a different story. If not, there's no real competition among forum members for Yahoo Japan boxes.

Ohhh how lovely to see the boxes they came in.

I could never bid on something like this, as I'd HAVE to open it and use it.
But I hope someone here does get her, this is a PHENOMONAL radio in sound, features and looks.

Another thing too, if theres bidding towards the end of the item, yahoo will add 10 minutes onto the time.
Not sure if this is a feature the seller decides to use or whether it occurs across the board.

Makes them far more like real auctions than ebays timebased/snipe rewarding system.

Rock On.

Well, I wasn't trying to break and rules and I forgot about the eBay thing. I was thinking how sweet it would be if a member here got this unreal deal. I'm with you Glue, I'd have to open the darn thing up and play it! That would just devalue you it right there....I sure would love to have a mint 975 though. I do have a Japanese mailing address, but no money. It will be interesting to see how much it goes for.

:w00t:

Looks like an original 80s one as well! Not one of those later re-made rounded-off ones!

But then........Did Lasonic ever re-make the 975, or was that only the 931 ?

:agree:

was considering many the many good reasons to post japan auctions here --
like --their offerings are often fascinating
and the stuff is sometimes rare and cheap and wonderful and and and ..... :-D

however --ALL of all of that goody viewing can be posted here immediately AFTER the auction ends
RIGHT ?????

but --just in case --we have just ONE member here -
that was / is seriously going for it --
lets all give him his BEST $$ clear shot at it .

amen

:agree: with BMoney and the wisdom of the sometimes senior member RedBenJoe.
I don't have any Japan connections so I'm not going for it no matter how damn enticing that is. :'-(
