I hear ya, but what he has is an absolute mint 3rd generation.
So I was also guessing late 80's.

How rare do you think one is that is absolutely mint, like brand new in the box and plastic wrapping?

Yeah this guy wants twice that much, but it literally is brand new, never used.

Bill these are from early part of 90' s. The 2nd edition was out for quite a long time. I think the 2 nd edition started off with double antennas but then went to single one in late 80's. I believe it was somewhere around 88/89 when I got my trc931 2 nd edition. Now the 3rd edition I just bought for like $80 shipped is dated 06/93. Hope this helps :-D

can some one post pic's of all three please :-D

the trouble is that the seller know he holds the cards

he knows that if you don't buy it some else will at that price - now most collectors will not want to pay that much for it, as the seller is being greedy and pushing up prices - this is the same with old school bmx's that i do :annoyed:

you could pay 3/4 of the asking price - you pay a bit over the price it should be and the seller take a little bit of a lose on it - so you could say to him that you found out the normal price should be around $250 but you will give a extra $** to it as it looks in a good condition

it all boils down to the need/want of the box and if you can say to yourself that it is too high and another will come along one day - or will it be the one that got away (which we nearly all have one of those )

cheers B :breakdance:

Don't forget there are a ton of variations between the different editions. Do a quick search and you'll see.( i.e. antennas, external Mic and headphone jacks, graphics, colors, inputs, handles, etc.)
Is the 3rd gen the one with the rounded ends, Like the i931?

From what I have seen and learned from others, yes. It looks quite a bit like the i931, but it has the 2 tape decks.

If it's not too late - prolly is, oh well :-/ - here's some info from: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/yungfuelec ... c_931.html

Lasonic TRC-931;
Ghetto Blaster - Boom Box, 2 x 8" woofers, 2 x 2" tweeters, two cassette decks, auto reverse - auto stop, built-in condenser mic, tape counter, LED VU and output power indicators, 5 band equalizer, balance control, mic. mix volume control, loudness button, ALC, beat switch, tape selector, two telescopic antennas, RCA phono-in, line-in, line-out, mic in, headphone jack, 48 W mains power consumption, made in Taiwan.

Help to identify this:

1st version: Yellow AM antenna symbol starts directly in the left upper corner, headphones jack was centered below the first cassette drive button. http://www.oaktreevintage.com/web_photos/1-PPA/Lasonic_Collage.jpg
2nd version: 1990's retro version has its headphones jack above the left 8" speaker. http://i.ebayimg.com/05/!CBmK8)!!Wk~$(KGrHqIOKpUE0UZfYNU9BNIUlOw8L!~~_12.JPG
3rd retro version: ~'2008 version was labeled "i-931" with iPOD terminal. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51zCyc5TMWL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

Looks like I just got a 2nd gen; at least it has two antennas instead of one!

HTH.

Go!

Good find!

But there was another model before what they list as the first model.

Which is this one:

One day I'm going to try and do an exhaustive 931 variation list to clarify them all as information from numerous sites around can be spotty.

Rock On.

Rick this is the 1st edition which did not last long maybe a year 85/86. In 1986 is when 2nd edition came out and it seemed to last for 5-6 years with slight changes like dual to single antenna and the placement of the headphone jack :-D the rounded 3rd edition came out in early 90's just before the Trc975
