Thought I'd post a picture of the 920 that I had earlier asked for help with finding some parts. I had some extra time last night and was able to get this thing back together. It belonged to a friend of mine and he gave it to me a while back. Everything was working on it; mainly just needed a good cleaning, both speaker grilles were dented in, both antennas were snapped off, and it was missing the knobs for the band and function controls. I found some aftermarket antennas that are pretty close to the right size, and Chris was very kind in hooking me up with the two knobs it was missing. It has a few scuffs here and there, and the reset button for the tape counter is broken, but other than that it's not in too bad of shape. I plan to surprise my friend by gifting this box back to him around the holidays.

Huge thanks again to Chris for sending me the knobs I needed to finish this thing!

Glad I was able to help you out. Looks great!
I wish you would have asked about the counter reset switch. I have one!
It's here if you need it.

Lovely look to these 920's, definately on my list.
I agree. I always preferred the black Lasonics, but after working on this 920, it has really started to grow on me. I can see one of these in my future!

Thanks again for your help! I never even thought of asking about the counter, I guess I just figured it wasn't that big of a deal. After seeing how nice this thing looks, I kind of wish I would have addressed that when I had it apart. Lesson learned.

Thanks! I think he's going to be pleasantly surprised.

What a nice gift. Your friend is going to have a great start to the new year with this thing :-)
Thank you! I'm definitely looking forward to his reaction when he sees his old 920.

Hi there,

Would you mind sharing where you found the replacement antennas? I've got a 920 in need of two currently.

I'm also interested in having my 920 refurbished. I really need the back casing repainted.
I'd appreciate any referrals as to where l could send the case to be painted. Thx

Hi CG, Fill out your profile, this way we will know where your operating from. Most of us find antenna's on eBay, many sellers out there. There are some processes using hydrogen peroxide that will return the back case to it's original color, no need to paint it. Here is a video of someone doing it with a computer case, but it's the same for a radio

Welcome to the forum!

On mine I painted the sides and the back silver and then put three coats of clear on it looks so much better.

I used hydrogen peroxide on the rear case of mine. It would work better if the was ever any sun in the UK but it definitely improved it. I’ve used the stuff before with really good results.

And yeh eBay for aerials. Or a scrap box
