Hey Guys,

If you had previously seen my thread "Lasonic TRC-918 full tear down & clean" then you will remember this radio:

In this thread I pull the cabinet apart to replace the tweeters that were blown. Below are two video's on the process.

Appreciate the video/info on that box!

Also, great avatar - I always wanted to see what those 2 boxes looked like together. Now all you need is a 922 to complete the silver series Lasonics.

On a related note, the tweeters in Lasonics must break down when they get old 'cause I blew the tweeters in my 920 over a year ago + the right tweeter in the 931 I had since 1988 - which I assume I blew in recent years. I've only had the 920 for a few years, but I know both of those boxes took high volume without breaking a sweat back in the day. :-/

thats a great looking box ,,, i have a 918 also very well built.... :-)

I have to agree with you, these are solid radio's and they do perform. For there size, I think most people would be surprised that the 918 does so well. To be honest, the tweeters were blown when I got this radio 3 or 4 months ago and I haven't had the time to play with it. After this tweeter install I can say there is PLENTY of highs. I'm actually running the treble knob at 1/2 and the bass at 3/4, how often does that happen?

I'm still having some issues that I may have to detail with in another thread.....but over all, I'm happy with it! I think this is going to be my next "TAKE EVERY WHERE" radio.

Thanks for the comment on the avatar. I hadn't see it either, the 920 and the 918 stacked.. I guess I will have to look for a 922???? I need to go look that radio up again and re-familiar myself with it again. It would be a reach right now as I have yet another Lasonic on the way right now!  :-P More on that later!

I'm not sure about tweeter failure in these as the only other one I got is the 920 and they are holding up (even after the pounding I have given them). I wonder if you can buy tweeters from Lasonic??? Whats in the new i931?

You guys missed out on a working 922 that went for $86 on Ebay....looked to be in pretty good shape.

Wow, that's really cheap....Normally they are much more. Prices seem to have flattened out a bit. That's good for me!
