A friend has this he could not remember spelling, he wants 300 because he claims it is very very rare? My question is , quite simply does the fact that there are none for sale and almost nothing about it online make it valuable?

Doesn't look special.
Doesn't have special features other than the inputs.
Tone wheel rather than separate bass/ treble.
Probably common in Korea.

Not worth $300 in my opinion.

But i'm probably the least qualified person here to make that assessment.

I have seen that radio with different brand names. So, while the Kumho brand might be rare, that particular radio isn't. If it was listed on Ebay US, it would only get $50-70.

Looks like a low end Hitachi to me!!

However, not worth much just another clonie - grab it if you can for $40 no more!! $300 now that is funny..... :-D :-D :-D

I'm sure it was a coincidence but this box went up for sale on Ebay less than an hour after Tom was asking about it's value for his "friend". Best part of the listing is:

"I believe thi works but will not sell that way on first round, I just do not have any d sized batteries and do not want to run out to grab 8 to test it. If it does not sell I will get batteries do a video of what it does price it twice as high in fixed price auction."

So basically, if you don't buy it for full price without knowing if it works, I'll buy some batteries and then double the price!!!

Haha. These dealers are getting lazier and more stupid by the day!
