Many of you had read on my post for Midwest Meets that I received the M90 for restoration day of meet. Here are some pics of the process so far. 1 tweeter had tear in the edge so after talking with Keith I just used some glue to repair tear. The woofers were discolored and very dirty so Keith agreed painting would be best. Now I know how many feel about painting speakers but since these units are not high end audio gear and very low wattage it really won't have a noticeable sound difference. I have done this before with very good outcome. Plus I think it makes this M90 look sweet  I also cleaned whole front case inside and out since getting the unit there was an oil substance from being sprayed with deoxit through front switches and getting the oil all over. I also needed to paint grills as someone must have spilled something on front of unit in past. So far this is how its turning out. I am waiting on new belts and fusible resistors for deck before completing restoration

Looking good, Bill.
And don't let anyone give you guff about the speakers. My thought is that, if they worked for that many years covered in dust and crumbs, how bad could they be after a cleaning and 1-2 thin coats feom a spray can? I mean, it's not like you brushed on 6 heavy coats of oil-based enamel. That's a different story.
Keith's gonna have a real trophy on his hands when this is done. I'd have a hard time shipping it back to him. (Insert "laughing" smiley)

Huge improvement already :)

And I pretty much paint every speaker to get it looking really fresh...can't stand a grubby or faded speaker.

Top work Bill :)

Ya know, when I first paid attention to these M90's, I really didn't care for them, but the more and more I see pictures of them, the more I start to like them. Looking great!!! Those tweeters would probably still sound fine being glued like that i suppose right? Since they do more the highs than the low pounding bass? Again, looks great.

Yeah it won't really affect it especially since being torn you really were not able to here any difference. Worse comes to worse owner can find new tweeters (and woofers). If wanted. I will know more about sound after I'm finished with restore

how the heck did that tweeter get damaged anyways? there behind grills.. always suck when that happens.. not like you can go to Radio Shack and buy a exact replacement..

Thanks guys  someone was inside this unit before for sure. It's missing some screws and belts seem to have been changed on deck. I also know something was spilled on front of box, something brown and sticky, maybe coffee or something. But it's a pretty clean unit otherwise :-)
