Greetings!
Yesterday I bought a JVC RC-X310 in a Goodwill store. I know NOTHING about boomboxes but it just appealed to me. I knew there were likely to be some issues with it. Fortunately the radio and the cassette functions are great and I like the sound. However, the CD drive will not spin a CD at all.
I have no idea how the internal mechanism works. I know from other reading that belts are used on CD players with retractable trays but my boombox has a flip-up lid and maybe the motor drives the disc directly, without a belt in the mechanism.
I am quite prepared to open up the boombox but yesterday my initial tinkering did not show any obvious screws to open it up. There must be SOMETHING I am missing.
I also do not have a Service Manual. I saw a website on which I could buy a hard copy of it and may have to do so. It's $20 I would rather not spend.
I would sincerely appreciate any advice on how I could try to fix this CD problem.
Thanks in advance.
