Yesterday I found a JVC RC-M90 Boombox at a thrift store for $14.99 and eventhough I know nothing about boomboxes I bought it. Man, this thing is heavy! The plan was to use it as a garage radio. There was no way to test it at the store but I took a chance on it. It was not until I got home and put the 10 D batteries in it did I find that it worked. It has one piece of bezel missing so I went on line to see if there were parts available and to my surprize I discovered that this was considered a very good radio. Now I am re-thinking the garage idea. The cassette works but is slow and assume the rubber belts are probably worn out. Not sure if I will go to the expense of having it repaired. It has a small piece of trim or bezel (looks like it was originally glued on but not sure) as it is called but do not know if this is a part than be purchased or not. It is the grey strip of plastic on the right side that surrounds the on/off button and what looks like a built in mic (has a piece of chrome foil covering it). What are the chances of finding this bezel? What sort of power cord is used to plug this into a wall outlet? Anyone know what it would cost to install new cassette belts? I am definitely a rookie at all this.
