Thanks to a massive effort from Boomboxery member DOCS I now have a fully functioning JVC RC-M90

Dave worked with me for countless hours on the phone and via WhatsApp to diagnose, test and trace the failed components which I detailed in this thread: HERE

I really can't thank him enough.

I also want to thank Katsa once more for hooking me up with this dream radio. Bro, you are one in a million! :hooray:

Time to ROCK THE BLOCK!

Thanks man, the deck was in really good condition to start (thankfully). Not like the deck Caution tore down that looked like it come from the bottom of the ocean. So I had that going for me. :-D

I have found that getting a box with a deck that hasn't been working in years is a blessing in disguise. It being broken for years saves wear and tear on the other parts from non use compared to others which continued to march along until they were worn out in every way.

Being broken actually preserves them for us to find later :-)

This is very true. The only time I get nervous is when someone has been in there fiddling away. Of course the absolute worst is opening a box and finding random gears and springs that you have no freaking clue where they came from

I still think the m90 has the best sounding deck of any box I've owned, I mean anything sound good on it even raggedy ass tapes always sound their best on the m 90.

I have been told that the on board computer uses the optical sensor to regulate tape motor speed. Myth or fact?...not sure but in any event the M90 is the only deck I have found to always be spot on. Never had to tinker with its speed and tapes do sound better in them IMO. I guess that's the benefit of having all high end mechanical and electrical components. Plus the Super ANRS feature acts like Dolby C. IMO it may be an early version of this or JVCs version but my Dolby C tapes....zero hiss with crisp highs and warm lows.

the only other box i don't get tired of is the pc5, stunning boxes guys and the 55 is great too apart from those damn displays but the display is stunning when working
