I was wondering are replacement or upgraded speakers available for the RC-M70?? I have seen several boxes with white speaker upgrades...the sound of the originals are excellent but are better ones available??

It shouldn't be too difficult as they are 8 Ohm. Though I'm no techie and don't know of anything in particular,it would seem to me that there is a lot out there to choose from.As good as the 70 has for a boombox,I'm sure there a higher quality offerings out there intended for other uses.

welcome melly --

the stock m70 speakers sound terrific --
but --you might like them better in white-
---------------------------------------------------------------------
also --see if you can spec out a pair that might be more
efficient --as the stock woofs need LOTS of volume
before any decent bass kicks in -

-----hope some of our tech members can help with this
'slow off the line' problem ?????? :-)

The specifications of stock speakers are never published so this is not a case where you can just shop around on the net for speakers with better numbers. It's gonna be trial and error. Mostly, like redbenjoe says, if you really want to replace them, get the most efficient speakers you can as most boomboxes have limited power and with limited headroom, need the speakers to be as efficient as possible. Personally, I'd say keep the stock speakers unless you have specific reasons to replace them. The M70's with non-stock speakers were probably done out of necessity rather than for reasons of speaker upgrading. The M70 is well known as a very powerful boombox for it's size. It uses 8 ohms speakers and you can get more observed volume from 6 or 4 ohm speakers although I would recommend against it -- it's not needed as the M70's AN7145 amp is very powerful due to JVC's implementation of that amp in a BTL configuration.

In short, leave everything the way it is -- it's already a top rated boombox in stock configuration and unless you want a different look, there should be no reason to replace them.

Amen......................

Listen to SD.....He knows what he is stating. Also take into consideration that there is no room to increase the depth of the speakers....... :nonono: ..... They would need to remain the same as the originals.......

...thanks for the info SD, you really seem to know your stuff. I guess it's best if I leave it the way it is...
