Yesterday I start this restoration project:

Boombox looks good, but i think it's time to go to bathroom:

Speakers need cleaning too:

Here is how look inside:

I cleaned all the sliders, back cover, front grills and other parts.

OK, guys here is some pictures after cleaning:

Rings cleaning carefully, grils cleaning and spray:

Good news for me - the technical condition is good:
The radio works perfectly;
Tape works well - I not change the belts for now;
Line input works well;
The buttons and sliders are good.
Only the slider to the left channel volume sometimes makes bad contact
and the sound is a little weak, but when I touch it the sound is good.
I guess that coverage of slider is worn.
I read some threads and understand that I could not find a new one to replace it.

Make sure, you clean the black idler, on the deck. It has a rubber ring going round it. This is the reason, why play, ff, rw, stop, after so long. You`ll be surprised how much gunk comes off that thing.

Litfan, thanks for advice.
Here are two places where there are scratches:

I ponder whether to paint them or leave them so... :hmmm:

Agreed. That`s just natural wear, gives it character. You`ll get used to it, after a while.

Тhanks for advice. I don't paint the front and back panel.
I need to repair the broken antennas:

I bought 2 new antennas with different basis than the original.
(JVC - original in left, my new antennas in right)

it was necessary to change the method of attachment of the antennas -
I glued plastic plate and attached the two antennas with screws:

Nice work. It`s great, to see stuff, i was seeing on another site, years ago, still going on.

I use a simple micro switch to on/off power of LED:

That was lighting on VU meters. Next is lighting the scale of the radio. ;-)

I think that the 2 LED are not enough to light the scale of the radio.
So I decided to use SMD LED Strip.

The installation of this strip was a challenge, but I managed to cope with this task:

Here's how it looks inside:

More pictures very soon....

Some time ago I tried to make this switch trigger scheme. But I had some problems and switch don't work... :sad:
So now I think to use a simple micro switch. More pictures very soon... :yes:

Dude.... I SELL that kit ready made, so you can retain the original factory switch without modification, and install it in such a way that you don't have that spot light affect from above..
