Hello guys, I have a JVC RC 838 that has the dreaded balance slider/treble bass slider issues, I found a local technician that would do the repair, (just bypass it all together) but he’s currently busy with other clients for the next 4 months ,I decided to see if there’s any one in this group of fine gentlemen that might know a repair person that I might be able to ship it to for a reasonable price , thanks for any suggestions!

First thing is to do is to spray Deoxit Fader F5 contact cleaner/lubricant on those sliders, move it back and forth to clean oxidation of sliding contacts. In many cases that will solve the problem.

I've repaired slider boards on the JVC RC-M70 and the RC-M838 for many members over the past decades with good results. Usually folks send just the slider board to me which on the M70 is fairly easy to remove, but on the 838, it's removal is rather delicate and easy to damage both the slider board and the main PCB to which it is attached. I'll send you a PM with details.
