Here are some images of the first boombox I've had since I was a kid. I bought it recently off of a guy in the Toronto who posted to Kijiji. It arrived with a few loose and broken pieces (due to shipment I believe) but I managed to get most everything back together and cosmetically it's quite nice.
I applied some Deoxit to the pots and now everything is working and it sounds great but sometimes when switching functions one of the speakers still losses volume and I have to wiggle the switch a bit to get it to kick back in. Also, the cassette door has a broken plastic arm and it has to be pulled open and pressed shut. I couldn't find the broken piece inside so that's a bummer.
I just love the look of this model. I like these seventies boxes because they are so well constructed with lots of metal trim and metal components and overall less cheap plastic parts to break off then most of the eighties boxes. The bimorphic expansion mode is pretty cool to play with but most music sounds much better in straight up stereo. It's cool how one VU meter doubles as a check for radio signal accuracy and the other doubles as a check for lights and battery power. I do wish I could get the tuner light to stay on without holding down that lever though just because it looks so cool lit up.
I'll probably start a new thread soon in regards to perfecting this beast.
Anyway, someone mentioned that I didn't include enough pics on my last post so here you go...
Happy Presidents Day Weekend. (If you live and work in the US I hope you get the long weekend!)
