I just picked up a JVC PC-V2J on the cheap and was wondering if anyone out there owns one. I have never heard this box and wanted to know what your sound impressions are. How is the bass? Overall volume? Clarity? All comments are welcome and appreciated. I got it off epay for a low bid of $30...I got interested when I saw another seller asking $245...is it really that good? Here is the link...

As the man says these are good boxes although not very loud, they have a feature known as hyperbass wich is basically a speaker in an enclosed box with an opening where the bass comes out. I don't have this paticular box but i have 2 or 3 vertually identical, i think you should enjoy the box melly congrats on a good price.

...thanks for the info fellas. I am moving to Alliance Nebraska for 4 months from sunny Cali for a job asignment and didn't want to ship one of my grails but I couldn't survive for 4 months without a box. I bought this one to ship out there... :-D ...gotta have my music...

i got the one without the cd that is the same size as that. it does sound better than a lot of boxes its size. the hyper bass gimmick is allright.
one thing about this box is that while it wont floor you in terms of its sound for sure it will really really surprise you for how decent it sounds.

...I know it may not be the prettiest box to look at but at $30, I would give any box a try for that amount...plus I am stuck in Nebraska without ANY of my boxes so I will take anything right now...I amlooking to add a few more because I will be here for 4 months and there is absolutely nothing to do here...they don't even have a Starbucks...I think I found Mayberry... :-D

ive had a pc v33 with hyper bass-great sound, not a fantastic look though-plus a pc-w150 with super bass horn that sounded rubbish, and ive just bought a pc-v77 for two pounds with hyper bass-that usual late 80s jvc boringness shape wise but a fantastic sound.the pc v55 in OSS's pic looks similar to the pc v33 i had, with it big wide volume slider etc.

I had the PC X100 with the Hyperbass. Like what has been said, it won't piss off your neighbors but the Hyperbass is a nice feature and the sound is balanced. Mine was dual cassette CD radio. Nice unit. I'm sure it will do the job you are looking for. If you bring it to a party it will still get people moving! :w00t:

Is yours working? Cassettes/CD?

Man, rough time to be leaving Cali....right at the start of winter!
