Hi to all!
My name is John , i could say that i am new to collecting an restoring boomboxes and my technical knowledge on fixing problems is rather on the amateur side. So i could use a little help with a jvc pc 168.
The problem is the following:
i bought the aforementioned boombox from a flea market. i cleaned it and changed the belts the radio reception was ok. After changing the belts the tape worked and i adjusted the motor speed. Everything seem to work fine.
After a few days the tape still worked but the sound coming from the tape was very low and in order to hear anything i had to increase the volume to the maximum and still barelly hearing anything. Also the motor speed seems to be slower.
I have noticed that the leds (graphic equaliser?) are only responding to radio reception ,not when the boombox is on tape mode.
Another thing i noticed is that when i put the selector to tape (and not playing any tape) and turn the volume to the maximum i can hear faintly input from radio.
What i have done till now is checked for any obvious damages, cleaned the tape heads and pinch roller, tried different tapes, sprayed the mode selector, pressed repeatedly the record selector.
thank you in advance
