The PC-11 is a nice box but it suffers from what all JVC boxes from that era outside a PC-3, PC-5, or PC-55 suffered...no real punch. As powerful as these are it's a shame. Very easy to listen to regardless and the tuner is about as strong as you could ask for in a portable meaning very very good. What it needs is a loudness compensation control. My Vector VMC-100 (PC-11 clone) has a 7 band EQ and the loudness function...what a difference!! :-)

You mentioned the PC-W300...I have a W350 and it too lacks the thump I believe it should have...

I have heard of speaker swaps however that alleviated the bass issues. :-)

Thanks OS, it sounds like it will be great for me as long as its similar to the W300 :) (One of my favorites, a seller sold me a busted one and I had to give it back - almost cried!)

Thanks!! :thumbsup:

OK, I'll start off by saying I love the PC-11, its a true component boombox, that separates and is very well built, similar to PC-3, 5, 6, 55, 550. The only drawback of the PC-11 is its 5" full range driver. I'm willing to wager that the PC-W300 with the 2 way speaker system has a better frequency range thus having a better sound.
The PC-11 frequency range is 75-17,000Hz according to the spec book and the speakers are rated at 15w RMS @ 6 ohms. So that means its not gonna shake the walls, but the mids and highs are good.
I'm not sure of the W300 performance, but I'm sure someone who has one can chime in.
Some other things I noticed are the following;
PC-11 has a 5 band SEA Equalizer, the 300 has separate bass and treble.
PC-11 has a single tape deck with no auto reverse. the 300 has dual deck with auto reverse
Both have Dolby B, Super ANRS, and are Metal tape compatible.
Hope it helps. :cool:

It does very much!!! Thanks MasterZ!!! I think I will enjoy my PC-11, I like nice clean sound - I'm not a huge bass junkie when it comes to portables (home and garage is diff. story), bass drains batteries quickly! :yes:

Well...I wish I could help! :lol: I actually had two at one time but a fellow collector and JVC nut 71spud (Joel) traded me a PC-11 for the extra one.

If I do come across another...you're first in line! :-D
