i have spent a solid 10 hrs building an m80 out of 2 units what an adventure

I had one m80 where she all worked but wouldnt fastforward but would rewind . and one m80 that was suposd to all work but she needed the belts changed and she is MINT i bought her of lav loo on stg. The m80 is no easy task to strip down unless your familiar with her wich i wasnt at first.
I stripped the not so mint one down as i needed the belts as i dont have any at the mo disconnecting everything as i went along, got the belts of her ready for my mint m80, this is where the fun started lol I then stripped the mint one down but decided not to disconnect any of the connectors.

Then put the belts on the mint m80 and proceeded to put her back togeather, Fired her up what happened nect?? put the tape on and the belts came streight off grrrrrr I must have gone through the same motions about 15 times as the belt kept comming of as soon as i had replaced it and switched her on, I couldnt fathom her out as the belt was slightly smaller than it needed to be.
By this time i was getting REALY peeved off grrr i decided to give it one last shot stripped her back down (by this time I could strip her down in 5 mins...

Took a look at the motor and decided to dorce the motor downward i had tried everything else to no success... put her back to geather and pressed play BINGO she WORKED :w00t: but only for about 5 seconds then she just stopped on her own, hit play again same thing, then I realized the tape counter wasnt going around so i thought that had to be the reason ATLEAST the belts were STAYING ON :-) :-D

So i stripped her down one last time, basically there were some wires stopping the tape cpunter from going around got them out the way and put her back togeather... Hit play and she workes perfect :w00t: ...

This box has had some rough treatment as i was getting rather peeved of during the process of dissembly over AND over again.

BOTTOM line MOST boomboxes if you take them apart 4 or 5 times and you dont get it right wires start snapping etc and the box has had it.......

I must of had the m80 apart 15 20 times during this procces GUYS she is built like a TANK with VERY sturdy wires what a beuty, im using her now and she works PERFECT verry gratifuying to get this box going HATS off to the m80 :w00t: :-)

I've always found it so rewarding when I fixed something myself.I'm sure when you compare your m80 to what is produced today, its almost like it came from another planet. As for back then,if my M70 is any indication,JVC was right there at the top for quality...at least for a time.

Well im sad to report i had to reasemble my not so mint m80 oldy, the belt just kept coming off the other and i havnt got a clue why.

Im using the same belt on my old m80 and it's been working for nearly 2 hrs no probs.

That realy is a strange one indeed. :-)
