I got a dilemma. I just got mint condition M70L. Not a scratch on it. It has 5pin DIN and phono-in. No input for today's tech. I'm thinking of a BT or regular Line-in and ditch the phono/din amp inside. What would you do? To modify or leave it as is?

If you can modify it safely, YES!

Make that blaster something you can and want to use.

Do it. We only live once!

I think I can. I haven't looked inside yet, only schematics. Maybe someone here is done that already.

I see that the pin count in the connectors aren't the same and physically would not connect to the main board the way you would want......

That's an LB model? You can use an antennuator and it will work just fine. It will save butchering a mint one.

I have the same model and, As Rudy said, mine works fine with an external attenuator :-)

In case you are not familiar with an attenuator, I will have a hunt for some pics I have posted on here of mine.

You are correct, but it doesn't matter. There are 2 more DIN pins.

M70L. Yes the RIAA curve circuit is one way to go. Quite simple to DIY. http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/phono.html

am i missing something or couldn't you just buy a din to rca cable?
This can't be done without attenuator circuit because din signal is very low compared to line level. As you can see it on the schematics above, there is one extra amp for din input on 70L models. I think maybe bypassing it to get line level input, but then there is that REC button combo to activate it.

Yes I am, thanks for being helpful. :-) This seems the most logical way to go.

Another idea, maybe a 3.5mm socket for a line in (nice small), and tap the signal after the phono amp where it enters to the main board. Then both inputs should work I think...

I looked at doing this on my M70L and decided against it. There are other differences in components upstream on those lines that I didn't want to fiddle around with. I just decided to stick to using these. If you figure it out post it here, I'd love to see how you did it.

It is a SWEET M70....

But as it's been said before....They made so many of these and they are widely available, even in this condition.

I hope to Solve this problem is That I Need for the cassette voltage (I have only 7.6V)
I received little Makes a motherboard in Japan, I'm checking and trying to Understand Where the problem is.
I have 2 rc-m70L more and Have connected to BT v4 rechargeable battery With the din phono, admit That Gives me a pretty good sound quality.
that's my experience of the moment With the L series

Its wiser to use FM transmitter.
Leting the currwnt trough radio PCB will make it stay healthy.
Electronics are like airplanes - they need to be flown to stay in good shape.
A cable is a cable, so butchering a mint vintage item for the sake of different type of cable doesn't make sense to me.
