I'm on the lookout for my next boombox and have been considering both the M70 and the 931. I enjoy the looks of both but do not know how they sound. I'm looking for a statement piece in both of these areas. Can someone give me some insight how each of the beauties sound or have done a A/B side by side test?

M70 is louder and is more detailed (more precise), but the Lasonic has better bass at low volumes.

I agree with Reli and Chris. I have both. The 931 has that "bling" factor with all the chrome accents, and sounds great on bass, especially through the line in inputs. But the M70 does sound VERY clean and crisp and it still has that street cred. In my opinion its a win win. Get both Lol.

Well said SLO... I don't own a 931, but I've seen them in person... The 931 is more flashy... but the M70 feels & sound more solid.

I agree with this.

The M70 is heavier though, while the 931 is quite bigger.

I have both. I actually really like the sound of the 931's, but when I use the M70, it's definitely a crisper sound. Not nearly the bass as the 931 though.

Yep the EQ on the 931 really helps. What a difficult question. I say look for both simultaneously and buy the first 'good deal' on one that pops up!

I agree with it all. Look for each one at the same time, either would be great to have. The lasonic is more fragile, M70 is better built. Each has their own sound but both will impress.

I don't have stacks of Lasonics and stacks of JVCs for nothing! LOL

Love the stacks Joe! You must have a secret fishing hole to find all those boxes...any chance moving one down the line to another collector?

I probably couldn't sell the Lasonic only because they are hard to find in good condition and with a good function switch..... Maybe a M70. Where do you live?
