Hi everyone,I just brought out another M-60
for cranking out on the 4th. Of July.
Well the tape got stuck and I knew last time I
used the tape on this one it worked.So I took it
apart and completely took out the tape deck itself
and lubed every shaft & pulley and sliding mechanisms
with white lithium grease.
I then cleaned every belt and pulley shatts
and oiled the main motor.
Reassembled meticulously and put everything
exactly where it should go.Total time=55 minutes.
I'm happy that I'm getting much better & faster
every time I service or repair a box!
Now with the 2 motor full logic deck the main problem
I think is that the 2nd. motor doesn't always lift
the tape transport up.
I think that's what the 2nd. motor does.
The main motor drives the deck spindles and
flywheel which usually work but won't usually
engage without the tape transport lifting up into
place.
These decks work and sound beautiful when
they work properly.
Just haven't had the guts to totally disassemble
one yet.
This was on one of my better M-60's as it has the
original tape door sticker on it!
