They don't sound like crap if you accept it for what it is not, and that's an M90. I have one and like it very much. No it won't crack concrete with bass but is very balanced, hs a strong tuner, and like almost all the JVC's of that era, has a great deck. (No Dolby or ANRS) And of course it's Bi-Phonic.

I have one! They're quite nice really.

I think you'd REALLLY love it Jovie, as the highs can be very pronounced.
Knowing your penchant for terrifying treble I'd recommend this in an instant!

For it's size I reckon it sounds quite clean and balanced. Just not alot of thud.
Compared to other boxes of that size you could do a lot worse.

Very lovely logic deck on her too.

Now if I could just get past those awful bloody grills...

Rock On.

I think it is all subjective. It may be rubbish to you but his ears may love the sound. If I compare every other car on the road to mine they will pale in comparison if I only look at how fast they are...obviously they have many other things to offer other than speed...all I am trying to say is have an open mind... :-D ...please... :-D

Easy! I love each box for it's character, not for how much better or worse it is than the next...and apologies noted regarding the M90, but you do have a history of it being your measuring stick against all else.

The point I was making is that you must look (listen) to a box for what it is. And sometimes our expectations cloud our ability to truly look at things for what they are. I personnally would dare anyone to try and say a modern Onkyo reciever sounds better than my 40yr old Sansui 5000x with the same speakers. But that does not mean the Onkyo is rubbish? I know going in that they are a different beast. The same with boxes. I cannot go in expecting the world out of a plastic box measuring 20"w by 12"h by 3.3"d.

As I said before, it is well balanced box with enough punch to enjoy with crisp highs and a rock solid deck. :-D
