I have a donor box with similar, although much smaller staining, and it looks to me to be some kind of oil or solvent based liquid. It almost looks as if the plastic is soaking wet due to the 'liquid'/whatever having penetrated the plastic.

the M90 plastic is solid gray all the way through but it has a black primer layer just underneath the metallic grey that might be what's showing.

I wouldn't care if they pissed on it in front of me if they sold it for the right price lol.
I'm piss poor anyway.

I'm with M.O.M.

It could be some solvent or other chemical. I would check to see if the plastic feels soft or even brittle. Maybe tap on the case and see if there is a noticeable sound difference. I guess the real question is, can you see this in person before the sale?

If the case it structurally sound, next I would worry that primer or paint won't adhere to it.

this is quite possibly the case, still it would take 5 minutes to sort it out

M.O.M. and Chris those were my first thoughts but i wanted to confirm.
I will have the opportunity to test it , the seller said it is fully working.
He asked a low price .
What puts me off is the discoloration .
Can it be fixed? Will it need a repaint?
Here is a pic of it from the front.
Looks like someone at some point sprayed its jacks.

Now I have seen this box from the front I would like to add this:

The 'discolouration' on the front seems to be around areas where input sockets are located, is there any discolouration around any of the knobs, A/C socket etc? The box I have with this discolouration (quite small areas compared to the BB pictured) has the problem limited to the top around the control knobs and, when it first arrived, there was some kind of semi-congealed 'garage smelling' (oil/solvent/grease/diesel/etc.?) tacky gloop just under the control knobs in the same areas. I'm wondering if whatever caused this problem was also on the fingers of a former user of the BB?

The other point to consider would be if the discolouration agent has penetrated inside the box and caused any problems there. The first pic looks as if the box has been sat in a puddle at a backward lean so I'd like to see more pics, including inside the box, before I made any commitment to purchase. We can see how the outside painted plastic has been affected but what about other components?

Looks like someone’s sprayed the inputs with something they shouldn’t have. Seen this type of discolouration before and it was fine, nothing wrong with the box. Just respray it if it offends you I reckon. If it’s all working and cheap then buy it!

Shall i ask him to open it in front of me if possible ?
If he’s up for it then do it :-)

That doesn't necessarily look like a spray to me. Instead, it looks like years of wear caused by fat, dirty fingers inserting headphones and such.

Either way, cosmetics are easily fixed when you don't have to worry about the inside.

The stains are caused from oil based products.

Either a deoxit with lubricating additives or something like WD40 was used.

No matter what, you can't clean that off. It will have to be repainted.

Tomorrow it will be the day that i will take a look at it in person and quite possibly i will get it
because the price is not that big.

It seems to me that blufuz you might just be right. If this is the ocassion
how should i repaint it? I mean in original colors.

Metalhandbag yes i still have the one i bought a year ago.
This will be a second one ! :)
