Saw one and had to buy it, then 2, now 3rd on the way! :w00t:

Really looking to make one, if not two good units outta 3.
The 1st, black faced 79 CX-500, 4.5" color TV, AM/FM radio, cassette, mono system. Its in good condition but needs an internal tuner for the TV to pull in a station. Radio and tape work good.

The 2nd, light faced 84 CX-500US, I got for parts but it works too well to strip. Only needs the selector knob cleaned or replaced.

The 3rd is on the way here soon, maybe parts to repair the first two? ;-)

I think I like the black look better. I didn't realize the CX-500 has a color tube. That's awesome!!

I always wished that someone invented a way to record TV onto cassettes for the TV boomboxes. That would have been so cool.

Right, I like the black one and when I saw it was a color tube I knew I needed one or more!
Don't know of any other boombox with a color tube? :hmmm:

i used to have an old sharp tv box that you could record from the tv to cassettes on....so its acchievable! iused to record whole episodes of the x files,or load up my vcr to it and record whole movies to cassette-its a great way to pass the time on-stick the soundtrack tape into your box and listen, and imagine the actual film as you hear the soundtrack-dialogue as well-its cool :w00t:
