JVC BOOMBOX (PC-X250) Hyper Bass

I received it from my grandfather a few years ago. I have no idea how old it is and the CD player is now taking ages to work or not at all. Does anybody know how old it is roughly? Is it fixable?

The service manual has a date of October 2001

Sounds like the Pickup not worth fixing no parts available. Not even listed in the Service Manual which is not a good sign.

Thank you for your help, caution fortunately, I got it working again last night somehow. Just hit the top a few times lmao

Thank you for your help too, Hopey! If I couldn't get it fixed, I'd still find it very much worth fixing. I absolutely adore the system and i get a bit sentimental over it since it was a gift from my grandpa who also loved music.

Must have been to lid proximity switch (happens on Sony eggs) opening and closing it a few times may have helped the contact close.
