Maybe a silly question but what may be happening if radio dial moves but radio doesent change except for the extremes from 96 and down and from 104 and up it changes radio middle i dead... maybe a wrong conection?

I would check the antenna wires , there should be two wires that go from the back cover to the main board , there are two studs sticking out of the board that the antennas connect to.
The only other thing I can think of is that the tuner settings drifted over time . it takes some know how to re align the tuner section .
