Just purchased this box today! It still has the factory protective lamination on some of the panels and on the handle. Definitely has a broken gear on both the function and am/fm knobs. I read those are fixable though. However, the volume at full volume is very faint. Gotta open it up tomorrow and see what I’m dealing with! I’ll post more with what I find!

Yeh these things often have the plastic left on. Just bought a 975 with the same. Good luck sorting it, report back if you need help
