following types appeared:
rt-s98,
rt-s981,
rt-s982,
rt-s983,
bombeat wx1 -4-wave, "passive radiator" stickers(red)
MacKenzie suffix labeled : came out with 2 wave and 4 wave, in eu with 4 waves. (fm,sw1,sw2,mw)
MacKenzie suffix labeled: came out in eu with BLACK or
RED MacKenzie letters AND "super bass sound"stickers(red)
rt-s98 came out with "super bass sound" stickers / and with "passive radiator" stickers.
also there was one MacKenzie version with white instead of green dial lights.
first I thought the mackenzie came just out with 2 waves ,but it was on the market with 4 waves as well.
so we have
MacKenzie (red letters)with red ,"passive radiator" stickers OR red "super bass sound"stickers.
MacKenzie (black letters) and "super bass sound"stickers
ther was another version with a white dial scale.
I also remember ,that I saw once a rt-s98xx type WITHOUT any stickers in an advertisement.
(no "super bass sound" and no
"passive radiation")
The rt-s98 AND the rt-s 983 were both delivered with and without wx1 suffix.
there was a rare golden version too.
speaker colours differed to ,most versions with TOSHIBA-print on the passive woofer grills,some without.

I believe the amplifier and tuner section are similar.
it`s up do your own decision if it is a down- or upgrade...

to me it looks a totaly different model just like all other boxes which have a few different upgrades ie say like pioneer sk-95 had a sk-61 sk-71 and basicly shared simular parts the tosh is just a diffrent model in that lineup of wx1 they could have called it wx-2 but they decided on a different designation and possibly it could have been a cheaper box to begin with only sharing the speakers.. jens do you have the brochure of the wx-1 for comparo?

Looks like a down grade feature wise.
I wonder if the amp section and speakers are any different????
Good looking in black but from the pics looks like a cheaper grade of plastic.
Jens do you have a high res copy of that scan I can add to my collection???
