This is my 1982 JCPenney boombox. I'm trying to procure a service manual for it, but I'll need to ID who actually made it. I remember seeing this branded as a LLoyd's box back in the day. Made in Taiwan. I found Capetronics tied into this, but I don't think it exists anymore.

Wow, I didn't know there were that many versions of this - readers digest? Bizarre.....thanks for the extra info. Didn't find manuals for these, either, yet. I'm thinking I saw an Emerson version of this, too. With a Pioneer PL-4 turntable, this was my stereo for a few years, and was a party box a lot longer than that. I'm trying to fix it so I can use the non-cassette options(I screwed up the tape deck, unfortunately). I'm going to have to search Ebay daily for more versions, and maybe a part deck.

Here's another version, 681-3903. Mine is 681-3901, for future google searches.

For these type of boomboxes there is almost no chance to find anything at all. Because those were the OEM products from a main company which resell their product to another and allow it to put it it's own brand and then sell it in specific market. The best example is the Toshiba Bombeat RT S83. It was "produced" under 20+ different brands :w00t:

Jonny, to the best of my knowledge, JCPenny published service manuals for their branded products, so you would possibly be searching for a JCP manual, not from a different manufacturer.
