I wouldn't. You'd be running it with 20% more voltage than it's designed for; you risk damaging it.

There's no blanket statement that works for everything from Japan plugged into a US outlet because everything has a different tolerance. Radios are more sensitive, where something with a motor like a blender or power tool would probably be okay, as long as you don't let it overheat and damage the insulation in the motors.

I'll plug my stuff in once in awhile but if you really value it I'd get the transformer. Amazon has the Nissyo, a beefy made in Japan unit that is very popular, just make sure it meets your wattage requirements. I think they have a slightly larger model with two outlets but I haven't seen it in a few weeks.
