Hey folks,
I'm new to Boomboxery but I lived the life in the 80's in Boston. I owned 3 boxes back in the day. First, was a 777 rip off. Man it was weak it had one tape deck and the woofers were about 4 inches. After that broke I picked up a Panasonic SG-J500, which was cool but considerably smaller and les powerful to some of the boxes my friends were rocking. Plus carrying LP's around was not real cool. I traded the Pansonic in for a Goldstar TSR-801. Much larger than the Panasonic but it didn't have the cache of the Golden Era boxes. I had 2 friends that had the Conion C-100 and I got to carry it to the store to get another 10 D batteries. Which is the closest I got to a classic boombox. I started collecting within the last year and of course like everyone else I want the classics. 777, 1000, C-100 M-90, I'm sure I'll find them all this summer NIB for twenty bucks apiece at a yard sale! LOL. I can't wait to find something at a junk store, flea market or yard sale! Anything. Oh well! I've got 4 boxes right now and hope to add more. I've enlisted my teenage son to help me fiind them. It's amazing he's the same age I was when I lived by the phrase "The bigger the better" except with his generation it's the exact opposite. Oh well, look forward to reading many posts!
