It's nothing but a powered portable speaker, and not much thought into it as well, seeing as how the tweeters are stacked in the middle -- sort of silly since there would be no separation. And then the the speaker selection..... 5.25" coaxials are already sort of bass shy. Add TWO more 2" tweeters and it'll become more of a squawk box than a boombox. Also, he says it's got internal crossovers that deliver the right sound to each speaker. Except he didn't show the insides but my suspicion and guess is that he even got that wrong. Since he probably installed nothing more than a cap for the tweeters. But then the main speakers are coaxials, so what, a different cap for each tweet? Finally, when he laminated the veneer, the corner isn't even glued down flat (check the bottom front corners).

So, it's not for me. But is it louder than any other boombox? Maybe. 15wpc into mids/tweets get really loud. But it's not going to sound as good as it could be and will have poor stereo separation is all I'm saying.

YEAH!!!!

What SuperDuper said...

When I looked at it, I thought it just looked like a hyped up bass amp speaker cab (plus tweeters.)

Yeah I noticed the crappy vinyl wrap job right away, lol

I know nothing about internal workings of electronics, but I did realize that it would be a bit over done on the high end with two coaxials and then two more tweeters, lol

The only thing I almost like about it is the cheesy flames (I like cheesy, sometimes, lol)

I would doubt that these tweeters would sound particularly good.... :hmmm:

I mean they must be good, they cost ALL of $6 each.

Norm you are right, they seem to have a cap a crossover only.....

Poor separation, no bass response, zero imaging, just a lot of overblown noise. IMHO.
:dunce:

Good eye. Don't know how you tracked down the model but those look like the one.
As for specs.... 300 watts? Really?

No thanks, you guys have covered plenty of the obvious negatives.
The tweets in the middle are obviously for visual effect but their presence will only trash whatever sound quality the coaxials might provide, the coaxials are all that's needed in that box. I doubt if they used any actual engineering to determine the correct speakers for the given parameters, they just threw in some cheap coaxials and grabbed a port tube off the shelf.
