Is this worth it?

The Fisher would be "meh" for me, but the cosmetic condition of that Sanyo would definitely get me to thinking of buying it. See if you can examine the Sanyo in person. If it seems good to go, offer him $175 and see where it goes from there. Me personally, I would try to keep it at or below $200 if not too much work had to be done to it. I'm a cheap bastard like that.

I think that fisher is worth $25.00 , my buddy in high school had one and I thought it was a nice boombox.

That Fisher is very common, there's a few on Ebay every week. I've never heard one, but I doubt it's anything special.

That Sanyo though, is a very high quality box! I could see paying $250 for it IF it was absolutely mint and fully working, and I was competing against a bunch of Ebay bidders. But that's not the case here. Anyway, go inspect it and make him an offer. I bet he'll take 150-175. Craigslist isn't Ebay….. nobody on there is going to pay him 250 for it.

The Fisher 430 is a great machine with plenty of ooomph! Dolby, soft touch, manual level & music search!! They have to be excellent condition to look their best tho!! Pure Sanyo built & good quality!! Real aluminum silver knobs too! Underrated for sure I love em!

I bought a small-ish Fisher similar to the one pictured (possibly a little smaller?) in 1988 and I was not the slightest bit impressed with the sound quality is it sounded like a hollow plastic box no matter how much I adjusted the EQ, it was so bad it put me off this brand for life. It was probably my fault for buying cheap but there was simply no excuse for producing a bit of kit this naff. :-/

The Sanyo can be had cheaper if you’re patient. A few good ones have turned up quite cheap in the last year or so (UK and Europe)
I wouldn’t want to pay more than £80 for a decent one.

I noticed on Ebay that they pop in and out for around $60. I made an offer sight unseen of $125 and the guy didn't respond nicely...lol...he's had it on Facebook Marketplace locally for a couple months. Boomer's are super rare in Colorado.
