I don't think it's so bad, not the best looker by any means but not so bad or to my immediate taste. I feel the designer struggled to get his/her idea correct but it's certainly of it's time.

Now, it this had stereo speakers, a tuning face on the front and was somewhat streamlined with a retractable/folding handle, it'd look so much better and something I'd fine quite attractive. As I said, it's of it's time and, with a few improvement first time round, it'd look great in the right setting (IMHO). 'nuf said.

The only thing it has going for it is the woodgrain trim..
The tape buttons look like Fisher Price, and the knobs look like they came from a cheap oven or fan..

It's times like these when you ask yourself why did they waste hundreds of thousands of dollars tooling and molding the parts for that model when they could have re-used an existing design from years ago. Nobody would have noticed or cared.

Yup....but design and concept always has to change for profits to continue. Nobody wants last year's model...we might want a 30 year old model...but not a year old model. Shite always has to change. You know the deal.

I was just talking the other day about how GM made the same car for 12 years and people kept buying it!
Chevrolet Caprice Classic from 1980-1990 are exactly the same! (Diff. headlights 87-90)
Cadillac Sedan DeVille 1980-1992 are exactly the same! (Diff headlights 90-92')
No changes in 10-12 years! GM kept stamping out the same body parts and still were selling!

Actually that is a very good sounding Sanyo, with adjustable bass tubes. But I admit it doesn't look very good.

That GMC 1500 in the 90s didn't change much either...they're everywhere.

I bet at least half of those Caprice's were bought by police, taxis, and other fleets.

As for the Caddy, that's pretty much the only thing that 75+ year olds bought during the 80's. That and Grand Marquis, lol. See, people that age weren't yet willing to buy FWD four-cylinder / V6 stuff.

I physically felt ill just looking at it, It's a shame that a company that has some amazing models would stoop to making that poop!
