Is there a way to figure out when a Boombox was released?

Is there a way to figure out when a Boombox was released even if you don't have one in your hands? I know that there are some codes on some of them, but I was wondering if there was a database for such things anywhere?

No such one stop database but maybe try wikiboombox, google, and sometimes the motor will have a sticker on it with the date.

Service manual often has the year on it.

You can determine the date of Sharp boomboxes by looking at the serial number. The first number denotes the year (e.g. SN 29810463 would be 1982).
