Thanks Docs only got one boom box ATM :( a old Sanyo M45k in need of an overhaul. Just last week i was at a local auction house and spotted a Hitachi trk 5190 in mint condition, But i couldn't attend the actual auction and no phone bids so put in a speculative bid of £20 on paper and just hoped no one wanted an old radio, the other stuff in the auction house was mainly classic furniture and ceramics..it went for £22 :(

Quite a nice little unit those Sanyo's, congrats on that.
Never mind with the Hitachi, probably for the best.
Where in the UK are you located? You can often start building a decent collection by getting in touch with local collectors and picking things up that way.

Ive just moved back to uk from HK there were some nice bits over there but vvv expensive esp for reconditioned ones. I'm in somerset near bath but probably going to end up back in London for work (tv post production) hoping to make some connections on here and get advise as im still learning. :)
thanks Docs

Hi All.
I've owned a Sharp VZ 2000e since the early 80's, although the last time it made a sound was probably the late 80's! I've never been able to bring myself to get rid of it and took it with me when I moved out of my parents' home, and kept it with me through another three house moves over the last 20+ years.
A couple of weeks ago I was scratching around looking for something to do in lockdown and saw it in the corner of the garage. It would be great to try and get it going again. Found this brilliant site and really hope I can get some expert advice to help me do that. Fingers crossed.
