Good to be here on Boomboxery.
Thought it was about time I posted an introduction.
My name's Dean and I'm from London England (south side!!) and now live in Auckland New Zealand.
Not sure if I'm a boombox collector yet but it sure is starting to look that way! Ok I admit I'm in denial
I grew up listening to and loving Hip Hop in south London and used to DJ Hip Hop, Reggae and Soul way back in the day.
Always loved Ghettoblasters/Boomboxes or as we used to call them "Brixton Briefcases" but never really owned one back in the day as all my money went on buying all the latest vinyl. Yes still have all my old vinyl but gave up DJing years ago.
So the past couple of years I have been buying the odd Boombox here and there.
Nothing like listening to Old Skool Hip Hop through an Old Skool Boombox
My 'collection' is pretty small but I have been lucky finding a few real gems at good prices.
Will post some photos of my collection soon.
For now I will post my latest find, which is currently my favorite machine. I picked this up locally two weeks ago for $NZ 250.
It's a Promax J-1 Super Jumbo and it's a MONSTER!!!
I know most members here will know the J1 as it was produced under many brand names.
Not sure if I will ever find anything better than this!
