Hi All

Glad to be a member of BoomBoxery.com, I look forward to seeing and reading about people's latest and greatest finds.

My first introduction to Boomers was on my 16th birthday in 1986 I was given an Hitachi TRK-7620AU by my parents which I still own.

I thought it was faulty when I first used it, I was also given a tape which had Queen's One Vision song, if you know the song it starts slow, I thought the tape player was dud.

My Hitachi has had a many an outing, every year in Canberra they have a fireworks night called Skyfire which is run by a local radio station, the fireworks are fired off to a soundtrack. The Hitachi has been with me on every single occasion I've been and once I turn it up to full volume anyone else nearby who has brought a lesser radio turns theirs off!

Welcome! And the Canberra reference plus the fact that your radio has the AU designator tells me you're from down under? :hmmm: :-D

What part of Australia are you from?

Bobby, Canberra is down in the Southern Alps area, in the South Eastern hinterland. I grew up in the area, and went to college there. I dropped out after 6 months to smoke pot, listen to Hendrix and P-Funk and collect unemployment benefits. Then I decided the tropical north would be a much better place. :-D I've only been back to my old hometown once in 25 years.

Canberra is an Aboriginal word for "meeting place", and is the Australia's capital, situated approx half way between Melbourne and Sydney, simply because they couldn't agree where to site the capitol. Canberra is a typical politicians town, think Washington, but without the abject poverty of 90% of the population.

Canberra has an area to it's south, called "Tuggeranong", in the native language it translates to "The Cold Windy Plains", this actually pretty much describes the entire climate, with below freezing temps in Winter. The Brindabella mountains provide a rugged snow covered backdrop to our political dramas.

Summers are hot and dry, like much of the rest of the country.

P.S. Welcome RockE
