So it was just another Saturday when I thought "Hey, why not bother looking into the local ads if there are any boomboxes for cheap?" still looking for THE ultimate find in the wild...
So I scrolled down, saw quite a few eggs and junk. And then this came up:
I was like
I recently missed the end of an auction for one on ePay...so this was my chance. Only problem: It was on the other side of Germany.
So I contacted the seller if she would ship it, told her I was a collector and asked for very good packing. And she agreed!
Then I asked if everything was working (because I forgot to ask that earlier )
She answered yes, tape decks working, stereo reception, everything okay.
So I decided to buy it and asked if she would accept 150 plus shipping. DEAL!
So she shipped it on tuesday.
And then the story began.
I talked to Blasterpunk about it and he told me those boomboxes are especially sensitive with shipping because the trafo is mounted really loosely .
So today the package arrived and the first thing I checked was if something was rattling in there....no, so far so good.
The package was HUGE!! So I was sure it was packed well in there.
Well, it was wrapped in two plastic bags and a little styrofoam. Other than that, nothing. The two side touched the cardboard
I though "Oh no! It must be all broken and have cracks!" :'-(
So after carefully unpacking it, I had it in my hands and put it on the living room table and I had to step back to see the whole thing!!
NOTHING damaged!!! Everything cosmetically perfect
So I went over to test it. And woosh FAIL!
The buttons had massive static noise and it only played on one channel :'-( .
BUT after fiddling with it a little AND especially let it warm up, it all wokred fine! The buttons just needed some using and heat from inside .
The radio button is still a little tricky but no problem at all. The ONLY thing wrong with it is that the power switch is on period, no matter in what position...no biggie for me
Both tapes play, tape b is a little fast but nothing bad, I LOVE it.
It had the best sound of all from and black "cheap-o" plastic boxes I ever heard and Peter was right with his description of the sound. Nice, round and sweet. The EQ works and it gives the unit an awesome punch. I love the LEDs flashing to the beat.
One word describes this beast: Awesome!
Must-have for every collection!
For SIZE comparison here is a pic with the VZ 2500. I was shocked by its size and I thought it was impossible for me to be shocked by the size of these anymore
