Old radio and cassette deck boombox. Bring a dollie

Since I have yet to make a real 'In The Wild Find', I thought Id follow up...

Ive had half dozen or so Prosonic PQR-9962's over the years, and I feel they are great boxes, so this was an easy decision.

Sure enough! I showed up this morning at the agreed meeting place and time, paid my $30; and took home my first ever Goldstar TSR-800!

I dont have the correct style power cord to test it. It is not working on batteries. Hopefully I can pick up the right cord at Radio Shack or Frys?

Im stoked!

:-D

As you can see, it is complete, and looks like it has been serviced at one time in its life. Note the radio shop sticker.

Thanks guys!

Well, I only hope it actually works!

If not, I will make it available to any forum member needing parts, or as a restoration project.

Sorry fella's, no $30 to $30 trades on this one.

Well, as far as the style of plug. Its exactly like any traditional BBX, the two pronged style, except that this looks more like the number 8.

Meaning, add an indent on each side of a standard plug, and you have the shape. The case is molded with the shape as well, so a standard style plug cant even be 'forced' to fit.

If my camera will allow me to take a detailed enough photo, I'll post one up!

:-)

What you do is take a regular plug with rounded corners and then, with a knife or box cutter, cut notches out to make the plug fit. That method is approved by oldskool69 and Fatdog. :-D

Carefull, though, when mixing :weed: and sharp objects! :nonono:

No slips, trips, or falls...and what is this about Ira and :weed: lately? Did someone pick up a medical marijuana card recently? :hmmm:

It was just recently that I found out that Goldstar became LG. Nice find. Sorry about the trip out to Gresham though.

Thats cool, I didnt know they became LG either?

Yeah, well I actually was concerned that it was a fake ad on Craigslist, and that I was driving myself to a 'stick up.'

The guy looked the part of your average Gresham criminal, but he turned out to be a nice guy.

I was in and out before the bad guys even noticed.
