Hello all,in the last 3 days I've serviced 6 of my boomboxes!

Just trying to keep myself busy and keep my mind off of my troubles.

I serviced 3 about 2 days ago-my Sharp GF-8787H,JVC RC-656JW,
and my Pioneer SK-71 which just needed some minor cleaning and
Adjustment. All went well! De-oxit on band function switch on 656,completely
serviced and cleaned and lubed the deck on my 8787,then the SK-71.

Today it hit 50 and was sunny so out came the Seiko WK-200 as the
decks never worked quite right.I completely took apart the cassette
decks(double) and lubed, serviced and completely cleaned the inside
of this crazy thing.Operation success!! Perfect speed and all functions
working on both decks! Then I finished doing some finishing touches
on the pad on the bottom of my GF-9696.Then I pulled out my GF-9797E
and just did some cleaning and put batteries in it.
Then last but most likely least was my very strange and possessed
Phillips CD/Tape/Am-Fm Boombox that doesn't work on AC but does
work on batteries.Cleaned the battery terminals and the AC inlet switch
but it still just works on batteries which is ok as it's kind of a POS! :-O

It plays but doesn't get to loud and it has a very peculiar echo sound to
it on all functions! It's just crazy, draws 30 watts and is a early 92'
model.it has a bass boost to.
It's the only Boombox I can't get apart as it has star screws in it and are
very deep!!
It's a AZ8010 GY01 Magnavox!! No it's a Magnavox,sorry not a Phillips.
Very strange,I think it got wet one time,I paid a whopping $2.00 for it
about 4 years ago.
I'm tired,time for a break!! :-) :-O

True! :agree: I know some can go like the dickens but when you are hittin' it hard (And I know you have a lot going on so this is a "fix" of sorts in itself maybe?) you tend to miss the little details. Now if this is in short bursts, absolutely man, congrats! Just want to make sure your taking some time to rest the body and mind after a tough week. :-D

Hi Freddie, yes buddy I do take my time on this stuff and always try to
do it right.
Not to boast but I'm getting better and better working on this stuff,it's
like 2nd.nature to me now!
With over 160 boomboxes I have a little bit of experience now to be able to do some servicing
on all types! :-)
I still want to re-learn tracing bad components on circuit boards
and get a capacitor tester and some other equipment which I do need.

I love doing this,I've actually have been working on radios for about
35 years now!! I have has and fixed and worked on them since iwas
15.
Being outside on my moving blanket and in the sun is the best! :-)
You can see everything and is just great to get outside as these are the
only 2 days which will hit 50,then 40 again for a week,winter won't
give up even in Tn. :-O
Have a great one. :-)

Awesome work! it's very satisfying when you have a whole heap of working blasters.

Now get some rest so you're fresh to do some blasting when the weather gets nice again.
:breakdance:

Thanks guys! Today was very nice, only serviced 2 boomboxes today
and spent about an hour on the truck today!
Cleaned, lubed and serviced my little GE mini that has dual decks am/fm
line-In and has quite a few options on it like 5 band eq.to.Decks are perfect
and at correct speed now and no warble! Love this little thing!
Then my Panasonic RX-FS470 which has many options and XBS
working great-just needs a belt to be perfect.

I'm taking advantage of this time to service many boomboxes because
within 1 month I will starting to spend thousands of dollars on my truck!!! :surf: :-O
